The Cook government has described the $1.37 billion Yanchep railway expansion as a groundbreaking development and said it will transform Perth’s northern suburbs.

Ahead of Sunday’s opening of the line – a 14.5km rail extension from Butler with three new stations at Alkimos, Eglinton and Yanchep – Deputy Prime Minister and Transport Minister Rita Saffioti praised the project, saying it would benefit the 170,000 people expected to live along the corridor by 2046.
