Volleyball Australia has admitted historic wrongdoing and apologised to athletes on the Australian women’s indoor team who were forced to endure an “environment of fear” through a combination of physical and psychological abuse.

The statement admits that players were subjected to coercive controls as part of the program, which included the use of training as a method of punishment, verbal and physical abuse, favoritism, exclusion, excessive punishment and body shaming.
