Senator Fatima Payman has told a group of supporters she is facing a “wave of support” after quitting the Labor Party to support a motion to recognize a Palestinian state.

The 29-year-old senator from Western Australia was suspended from her position as a Labor MP by the Prime Minister last month for switching sides to vote for the Greens’ motion and then saying she would make the same decision if the left-wing party voted again.
