Sanju Samson scored a brisk 58 from 45 balls and seamer Mukesh Kumar took 4-22 as India defeated Zimbabwe by 42 runs at the Harare Sports Club to complete a 4-1 win in their five-match T20 International series.
Sent in to bat by the hosts on Sunday, a young Indian team, missing several key players, posted 6-167 in their 20 overs before bowling out Zimbabwe for 125 to complete a comfortable win.
Samson hit four sixes and was the only batsman for the visitors to make a significant score. Shivam Dube made 26 in 12 deliveries before being taken out of the game.
Zimbabwe were still in the race at 3-85 in the 13th over, but lost four wickets and 12 runs and thus lost momentum.
Their collapse began with the loss of top scorer Dion Myers, who scored 34 out of 32 balls.
Kumar was the tourists’ best bowler and produced career-best figures, taking wickets at the beginning and end of Zimbabwe’s innings, while fellow seamer Shivam Dube took 2-25 in four overs.
