On July 11, a series of eight earthquakes occurred in Port Hedland in less than 24 hours, shaking the world’s largest export port in a rare event.

The first earthquake, measuring 3.1 magnitude, struck less than 50 kilometres south of Port Hedland at around 2:17 a.m., according to the Geoscience Australia website, sending Hedland residents into an early morning fright.
