World News Paris 2024 says impact of cyber outage limited Blog

The Paris Olympic Organising Committee said the impact of a global cyber outage on its operations had been limited and ticket sales had not been affected ahead of the Games, which begin in a week.

The global technology outage, apparently linked to problems at global cybersecurity companies CrowdStrike and Microsoft, impacted operations across many sectors including airports, airlines, media and banks on Friday.

“At this stage, the impact is limited and concerns in particular the provision of uniforms and accreditations,” said a statement from the Paris 2024 Organising Committee.

“Paris 2024 ticketing systems are not affected. Venue preparations are continuing as normal and work schedules are not at risk. The torch relay will continue on its route as usual.”

The accreditation desk at the Games' press center was closed, a Reuters reporter said.
