A man has been charged with murder after police discovered a man’s body in the stairwell of an apartment block in Melbourne’s east.
Emergency services were called to the complex on Young Street in Box Hill at around 7.45pm on Saturday after an assault was reported in the foyer.
When police arrived, they found two victims of an alleged attack, one of whom had suffered a minor facial injury.
A 42-year-old man from Box Hill was subsequently arrested at the scene.
After speaking to witnesses, police determined that a third person had also been attacked and began searching the building.
The officers present soon discovered a man, whose exact identity has not yet been established, dead in a stairwell.
The police assume that the two men knew each other.
The 42-year-old man was taken to hospital under police guard, but has since been charged with murder.
He was remanded in custody and will appear before the Melbourne Magistrates Court on Monday.
