England have reached the final of a European Championship for the second time in a row with a 2-1 victory against the Netherlands thanks to substitute Ollie Watkins’ winning goal in injury time.
Watkins, who came on for captain Harry Kane following a bold decision by manager Gareth Southgate, turned and hammered a powerful shot into the bottom corner in the first minute of stoppage time.
England face Spain in the final in Berlin on Sunday. It will be the nation’s first title match on foreign soil after winning the 1966 World Cup and losing to Italy in the 2020 European Championship final – both times at Wembley.
In an open first half, Harry Kane cancelled out Xavi Simons’ brilliant seventh-minute opener for the Dutch with an 18th-minute penalty.
