A Perth family is mourning the loss of their new father, who has passed away after a difficult battle with cancer.
Josh Piscitelli was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma of the tongue in June 2023.
In July 2023, Mr. Piscitelli underwent surgery to remove the cancerous tissue and then underwent radiotherapy until October 2023.
Six months later, Mr Piscitelli underwent his first routine PET scan, where doctors discovered that the cancer had returned.
Less than twelve months after his initial diagnosis, Mr Piscitelli's condition was incurable and he was told that chemotherapy had failed.
Sadly, Mr. Piscitelli lost his battle with the cruel disease on July 14th.
His friend and work colleague Callan Oorschot has launched a fundraiser to help his wife Chelsea and 20-month-old baby Hunter pay for the funeral costs.
Mr Oorschot wrote: “In addition to all the emotional pain and stress that death, cancer and terminal illness bring, there can also be enormous financial burdens.”
“Josh was the primary breadwinner in his household and should have had his entire working life ahead of him.
“Josh’s wife Chelsea and son Hunter are now left to pick up the pieces,” added Mr Oorschot.
“We would like to raise money for Josh’s wife and son to cover both the funeral costs and the future living expenses of his young family.”
Mr Oorschot asks people to “keep Josh’s family and friends in your thoughts and prayers”.
In a conversation with Mr Oorschot, he said: “We are grateful for every donation and it will be very helpful in this terrible time.”
“If it was someone else and Josh didn't know him, he would want to help.”
“It can happen out of nowhere; people have to enjoy life and live it to the fullest because you never know when it might be over.”
