Boeing has agreed to plead guilty to criminal conspiracy to defraud the United States after the Justice Department concluded that the plane maker had failed to comply with an earlier settlement related to two fatal crashes of its 737 Max aircraft.
According to the agreement in principle with the US Attorney’s Office, Boeing faces a fine of up to $722 million, the maximum amount allowed by law. However, the actual amount will be determined by a judge, the Justice Department said.
