As we wrap up Friday, it's that time again where we cover some new releases, especially from indie developers. I feel it's important to highlight these since not everyone realizes that mobile has a pretty decent indie scene, but it tends to get drowned out by flashy gachas and new AAA spin-offs. Today's topic is Bullet Heaven's new game, The Wizard

Aside from the catchy name, The Wizard is a premium game now available on Google Play that puts you in the shoes of a wizard tasked by Zeus to battle the forces of Hades. To do so, you’ll need to wield the familiar flashy, rapidly upgrading weapons and spells that will be so familiar to fans of games like Vampire Survivors.

Now, I won't mince words, because The Wizard is definitely a little rough around the edges, if the blocky buttons on the right-hand side are any indication. However, for an indie release that's clearly operating on a budget, it feels like a lot of love has gone into it, and it has all the feel of the old Flash games that I think inspire the best kind of mobile titles.

I'll admit, I'm not sure how many actual vampires there were in Ancient Greece. The flashy powers and spells are definitely there, though. I'll also admit that calling it a bullet paradise might be a bit of a stretch, as the auto-attacks that are a staple of the genre aren't there. But the ability to mix and match spells and have more control over your attacks, not just your movements, is sure to win over some people.
