Xbox Series and Steam versions Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria It will be available for a limited time alongside the Gold Update for existing platforms at a discounted price of $19.99 on August 27, publisher North Beach Games and developer Free Range Games announced.
The “Gold Update” introduces the following new content and improvements:
- Sandbox mode – Previously only available in beta through the Epic Games Store version Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria, the full launch of Sandbox Mode allows players on all platforms to explore and experiment independently across the mountain. This non-linear mode unlocks the full potential of the procedural generation system, and the game world is created with different random seeds, meaning each game can vary significantly in layout and difficulty. Recommended for players familiar with this mode due to its inherent unpredictability and minimal tutorials. Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria or other survival games.
- Cross Play on All Platforms – Exploring the mines of Moria with friends just got easier! Through Steam or the Epic Games Store, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5, any player on PC can now host games that any other player will join. As with non-cross-play games, Steam players can host up to 8 player sessions, regardless of what platform the connected players are on.
- New Weapons and Armor – Sandbox mode brings with it recipes for 14 new weapons and armor, including the Wolfskin Hat, Shield of Gondor, Khazad Halberd and Barôkamlut. Although only found in Sandbox mode, players can bring new objects into Campaign Mode as long as the Dwarf is equipped with them when transferring.
- New Construction Parts and Decorations – Players can decorate their base with more than 100 new building objects, including new cosmetic decorations such as light fixtures, rugs, banners, household items, tables and chairs.
- Building Improvements – Restoring Moria is now easier than ever with changes to the stability system and improved object snapping. Various buildings throughout Moria are now more powerful than ever, expanding the ability for players to build large bases wherever they want.
- Single Player Pause – To improve the solo player experience, offline players can now quit the game by hitting the escape key on PC or by opening the settings menu.
- Ambient Music – Due to popular demand, there is now ambient music to accompany the Dwarves' ventures through Moria.
- Difficulty Settings – Players can now specify the difficulty level for various aspects of the game, including enemy aggression, combat, troop, siege and patrol frequency, world and mine drops, and survival.
- Bug Fixes and Improvements – For more information about the various updates, fixes, multiplayer connectivity improvements and more that have been introduced to the game, players can visit the official website.
Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria is currently available for $24.99 on PlayStation 5 and PC via the Epic Games Store.
