The 6 best plugins for your Kodi media player

Kodi is a powerful media platform that lets you enjoy content on the same device where the files are stored. It's perfect for home theater PCs and is more local than Plex or Jellyfin. Even though you render TV shows, music, and movies locally, you can extend Kodi's functionality by installing plugins. I'll share some of our favorites that work today and show you how to install them.

Although installing a Kodi plugin won't get you into legal trouble, the content available through certain add-ons may not be legal in your country. We recommend being cautious when accessing movies, shows, and other media through such sources.

Kodi isn't actually a media server, but it's a great way to access video files stored on your network. Thanks to plugins, you can also use it with Plex, Jellyfin, or Emby.

1 Samsung TV Plus

Samsung TV Plus is an international live TV plugin for Kodi. It is one of the few add-ons available that allows you to stream live TV from networks in supported markets. Supporting Austria, Canada, France, Germany, UK, India, Italy, Korea, Spain, Switzerland and the US, this plugin lets you bookmark and enjoy all your favorite media. Channels (or streams) are sorted by country, making it easier to find the channels you want.

2 Scrubs

If you're not familiar with Scrubs, it's a fork of the Exodus add-on and allows access to thousands of movies and TV shows. It doesn't host any content and simply acts as an aggregator, providing access to various sources without requiring you to navigate through different websites and other properties. It may not be legal (or reliable) in many markets, but Scrubs remains one of the most popular plugins for Kodi for those who want to enjoy free content.

3 ESPN

There's an unofficial ESPN plugin available for Kodi that lets you log into your ESPN+ account and stream sports to the big screen. Even if you have access to the official app on your TV, having it in the same place as all your other media is a great way to ensure a consistent experience.

4 The Crew

Like Scrubs, XDA cannot verify the legitimacy of the sources available through these add-ons and we advise caution if you plan to use them. The Crew is a media streaming aggregator that bundles multiple sources to provide more convenient access to thousands of shows and movies. It also works with some paid hosting services like Real Debrid.

5 YouTube

Do you use YouTube a lot and want to watch all your favorite channels through Kodi? With this unofficial plugin, you can! You'll need to configure an API key, but once everything's up and running, you're good to go.

6 Shazam

Not to be confused with the official music tagging service, the Shazam Kodi add-on is another video streaming aggregator. You'll find plenty of sources to access different tracks through Shazam, and it can even be configured with Trakt to keep track of what you've liked and recommend new media.
