Overview

A ship. A year. Seven happy gods. Twenty-two endings.

The rainbow sea is a multi-ending pixel art visual novel based on the Japanese myth of the Seven Lucky Gods. It depicts a year in the life of a Human who is chosen as a candidate to become a god, living among the Seven Lucky Gods who do not reveal much to him. As a Human, you can explore the treasure ship and make choices to change the storyline. All twenty-two endings are true endings, and only you, the player, will be able to find out what the true story behind them all is.

The story

You wake up in an unknown warehouse where you hear nothing but the sound of waves. As you try to figure out why you're here, your reflection in the mirror talks to you. He tells my reflection to lie, then disappears.

When you leave the warehouse, you meet people who call themselves the Seven Lucky Gods. According to one of them, Daikoku, you are a Human chosen to become a god. Most of them don't seem to welcome your sudden arrival.

After the treasure ship returns to the human world in a year, will you become a god and join the others on the ship? Will you return to your original world as a human? Or will you…?

Your bittersweet year begins with the Seven Lucky Gods.

Gameplay

Move around the treasure ship, trigger triggers by talking to the gods and exploring the items on the ship. Events occur when certain conditions are met, such as the favor level of the gods, the weather, and the time of day. You can choose to change the story in events.

In a game where you can be active from 6:00 a.m. to midnight, every second counts as a minute in real life. Note that if you don't eat or sleep enough, you will fall asleep faster than this.

A year later, on New Year's Day, you'll reach a chosen ending based on the events you've seen and the choices you've made.

The game takes about two hours to complete.
