- PUBG Mobile is ready to collaborate with Guild Esports
- This organization, of which David Beckham is co-owner, will see its team participate in four upcoming tournaments
- It comes hot on the heels of the Nations Cup finals in Seoul, South Korea, later this month
Krafton’s premier battle royale game PUBG Mobile is set to partner with Guild Esports. The organization, co-owned by soccer legend David Beckham, will be fielding its team in four upcoming competitions for PUBG Mobile. The hope, I suppose, is that the marquee names and talent on this team’s roster will give the existing PUBG Mobile esports scene a boost.
The team will be present at the PMSL EMEA Fall 2024 tournament, the PMGC Finals, and the upcoming editions of the PMSL EMEA 2025 tournament in both the Spring and Fall. It’s a great time for esports around PUBG Mobile, as the game’s Nations Cup is set to kick off in Seoul, South Korea, with a massive prize pool and 16 teams.
However, I would venture to say that many esports viewers and casual fans are probably wondering how big of a deal this partnership could be. Sure, there are big names involved, but for something supposedly meritocratic like esports, a team getting promoted to these competitions is a bit strange.

Personally, not knowing as much about eSports as I do, the names associated with the team could be very big, but I notice that David Beckham's name is the one at the top of all these stories despite being a co-owner. It makes me wonder whether or not this partnership is based on prestige, rather than the teams' skills, but I hope I'm wrong.
