■ Newly Announced Features
Welcome to the Hub (phased release)
Introducing a new personalized space on your PlayStation 5 home screen called the Welcome hub – a dedicated space you can customize with widgets that let you see information at a glance before you start your gaming sessions. For players in the US, the Welcome center will replace the current Explore tab with improved customization and an improved user experience.
You can easily customize your Welcome center by choosing from a variety of widgets, including console memory, battery levels for accessories, online friends, trophies and more. Use presets to quickly change your layout and simply select and arrange different widgets as you see fit. You can resize, expand, or shrink your widgets to focus more on the features that matter most to you.
In addition, you can also change the background of your Welcome center. Choose from a range of designs, including beautiful animation effects, or choose a screenshot from your own Media Gallery for a truly personal touch.
The Welcome Center will be available to select users in the US starting today. In the coming weeks, we will gradually expand support to other regions, starting with players in Japan, starting with select countries in Europe, and eventually rolling out worldwide.
Party Sharing (phased release)
Over the next few weeks, we'll also add the ability for you to share voice chat links to any messaging or social media app. This will allow you to invite a friend you're chatting with on any messaging app to join the party's voice chat, even if you haven't added them to your friends list on PlayStation Network.
To create a party connection, open the voice chat card in Control Center on PlayStation 5, select [Invite Players]then click [Share Party link] to create a scannable QR code. Buyers can open the link on their mobile device and seamlessly join the party on PlayStation 5 or from the PlayStation App.
In the coming weeks, we'll also release an update to the PlayStation App that will allow you to create a shared party link from your mobile device in the same way.
PlayStation 5 Beta Features Roll Out Globally Today
Take a closer look at some of the PlayStation 5 beta features rolling out globally today, including customized 3D audio profiles for headphones and headsets, the ability to enable Remote Play access for individual users, and adaptive charging for your controllers.
Customized 3D Audio Profiles for Headphones and Earphones
In this generation, 3D audio is one of the main ways that creators increase the immersive quality of games. As individuals, we all hear sounds differently due to the size and shape of our heads, ears and ear canals.
We're excited to introduce a feature that allows your PlayStation 5 console to create a personalized 3D audio profile just for you. With a set of headphones or earphones, you can go through a series of sound quality tests to analyze a large number of factors to create an audio profile that best matches your hearing characteristics. For example, your customized 3D audio profile can allow you to perceive the positions of characters and objects in the game world more clearly than before, making the experience more immersive.
Go here to create a customized 3D audio profile for your headphones or earphones [Settings] > [Sound] > [3D Audio (Headphones)] Select it on your PlayStation 5 console and follow the on-screen steps. Your audio profile will be saved on PlayStation 5 for each user, and you can still choose from 3D audio presets as before.
This feature builds on the 3D audio enhancements we've introduced to PlayStation 5 since launch, including 3D audio support for built-in TV speakers and support for compatible Dolby Atmos-enabled audio devices. These features give you additional options to delve deeper into the rich variety of soundscapes in PlayStation 5 games powered by Tempest 3D AudioTech.
Enable Remote Play for Individual Users
You can now adjust Remote Play settings for each user and choose who is allowed to connect to your PlayStation 5 console using Remote Play. So if friends or family members come over and log into your PlayStation 5 console with their account for PlayStation Network, you can easily change who can continue to access your PlayStation 5 console when they leave using Remote Play.
Go here to adjust these settings [Settings] > [System] > [Remote Play] > [Enable Remote Play]and select the user you want to grant access to your PlayStation 5 console via Remote Play.
Adaptive Charging for your controller (for the slimmer PlayStation 5 model and PlayStation 5 Pro)
Adaptive charging for the DualSense wireless controller, DualSense Edge wireless controller, PlayStation VR2 Sense controllers, and Access controller is now available for the slimmer PlayStation 5 model when the console is in rest mode (it will also be available for the PlayStation 5 Pro when it launches). Adaptive charging helps you save energy by adjusting the amount of time your controller is charged based on the battery level.
Go here to use adaptive charging [Settings] > [System] > [Power Saving] > [Features Available in Rest Mode]and then select [Supply Power to USB Ports] > [Adaptive]. After the PlayStation 5 enters rest mode, the power supply to the USB port will stop after a certain period of time if the controller is not connected.
We'll continue to improve your gaming and social experience on PlayStation 5 by listening to community feedback on features and improvements. Let us know which features you're most excited to try!
