  • Dynamax and Max Battles Are Now Available in Pokemon Go
  • Max Particles limits your daily activities with a maximum limit
  • Mega Evolving Dynamax Pokemon is included, but with some conditions

Dynamax has come to Pokemon Go, and it’s brought with it a ton of new features and items to the map. In fact, it’s so substantial that it’s almost impossible to miss if you’re just starting out Pokemon Go now. Information about it has been slow to arrive, but we’ve gathered it all together here, creating this article that contains everything you need to know about Max Battles, Max Particles, and Dynamax Pokemon.

How to get the most out of particles

There are purple Power Stops (similar to PokéStops) that have appeared all over the map. They have a timer, which usually lasts for a maximum of 2 days, before disappearing. You can tap these stops to get 120 Max Particles from them. Additionally, you can walk 2 km to get 300 Max Particles.

There is a limit to the maximum number of particles you can hold at one time, set at 1,000 MP, so you must use these particles on your Pokémon to make room for more. There is also a limit to the maximum number of particles you can obtain per day (around 800-1,280) from rest stops and walks.

Dynamax Pokémon Dynamax Pokémon in Raids

By now, you probably have a Wooloo and a Skwovet from Dynamax research, which was introduced as a sort of tutorial for the new feature. You can get more Dynamax Pokémon by battling them in raids. You need at least one Dynamax Pokémon to battle in a raid.

Dynamax Raid

Dynamax Raids are currently 1-star raids and you have to pay 250 Max Particles to raid. You can raid with up to 3 other people and can take a team of up to three Dynamax Pokémon. Raids work much like regular raids, but with a Dynamax meter at the top of the screen. When this meter fills up, your Pokémon will automatically Dynamax. You can then use three Max Moves to battle the Pokémon you are battling. There are Max Particle Orbs that appear during battle and you can pop them to add a boost to the Dynamax meter at the top of the screen.

The rewards for these raids are 10,000XP, Golden Raspberries, Revives, XL Candy, and XL Rare Candy. You can pay 200 coins to add more premium items to your win screen.

After battling and winning a Max Raid Battle, you can place your Dynamax Pokémon in the Power Spot, which will give you Candy for that specific Pokémon, based on how many towns that specific Power Spot was battled after you placed your Pokémon. Your Pokémon will also make it easier for other Trainers to battle that Dynamax Pokémon. You can get your Pokémon back from a Power Stop at any time you want.

Pokemon Go Dynamax Information Screens

Once Raids are over, there is a higher chance that Pokémon will spawn around there. You can also get Shiny Dynamax Pokémon from Raids. It is worth noting that there is no time limit on Max Battles and instead the raid ends when your team of Pokémon faints or when you win. You can see how many other people have battled and won in that raid, along with the Attack Bonus in the trophy icon at the top right of the raid screen. You can only battle a Power Stop raid once per spawn of that specific stop.

Dynamax Moves

There are three Max Moves for Dynamax Pokémon, which depend on the Pokémon itself. They can be powered up using Max Particles and Candy for that Pokémon. You get small amounts of XP for leveling them up. Each specific power has a short description on the Power Up screen.

Mega Evolution and Dynamax

Currently, you can Mega Evolve Dynamax Pokemon, but you cannot Dynamax Mega Evolved Pokemon. This means that if you Mega Evolve a Pokemon that has the Dynamax trait, you will not be able to use that Pokemon in Dynamax battles. The button itself is hidden from the UI at the moment, presumably to prevent you from learning it the hard way.

Other notes

You cannot currently use a Master Ball to catch a Max Pokémon.

As this feature is still under development, we will work hard to keep this page up to date.
