- Item sharing, a much-requested feature in Pokémon Go, is apparently live
- This is according to what some players reported on the forums
- What is it and why is it so important?
The long-requested item-sharing feature in Niantic’s creature-catching game Pokémon Go is now available. At least according to some players on Reddit, who have reported being able to access the feature. But how does it work? And what can you expect?
The basic idea is that when you use an item with a benefit, such as increased encounter rate, you will also share some of that benefit with other party members. According to player reports, it appears to provide half the item's normal duration for all party members, regardless of party size.
The obvious advantages are that if you are playing with friends who may be new to the game or a little behind, you can share the effects of items you have collected. This means they don't have to waste what they are acquiring at an early level, making the most of an initial boost.
Another improvement in the quality of life
While it may seem relatively minor, we believe there is something else to the addition of this feature. First, as far as quality of life features go, it is quite significant, as it benefits both early-level players and returning veterans. Since Niantic has struggled for a while to maintain a healthy player base, this move could be seen as a way to get new players on the board and invested enough to keep coming back.
In any case, it is a great game for those who play often with friends and family.
