As reported on our sister site PocketGamer.biz, ustwo Games’ Monument Valley has appeared on Netflix Games in Pakistan. This is the game’s first appearance since it was announced in 2023 that it would be coming to the subscription service later this year. Assuming this isn’t an accidental early release (which happens sometimes), we can expect Monument Valley to hit Netflix Games worldwide soon.

A significant title in the mobile gaming canon, Monument Valley catapulted the two of us to development stardom. A deceptively simple puzzler where you explore a strange upside-down world and interact with the environment to progress, Monument Valley’s combination of intuitive gameplay and an emotionally impactful story made it a surprise hit.

Oddly enough, Netflix and Monument Valley aren’t exactly strangers to each other. The game would have made a significant appearance in the hit drama series House of Cards, where it was played by the main character Frank Underwood. While it’s not mentioned in the announcement (likely due to allegations leveled against the character’s actor in the meantime), it’s almost certainly a factor in bringing the game to Netflix.

It’s no surprise that Monument Valley is such a highly anticipated release on Netflix. And we think it could open up a whole new audience for the hit puzzle game. Going back to the House of Cards appearance, it certainly raises a potential question. Could future mobile game appearances on Netflix shows secure a spot in their game catalog?
