Million Depth, a side-scrolling action roguelike to be published by PLAYISM

PLAYISM will publish a side-scrolling roguelike action game developed by Cyber Space Biotope A Million Deep, the companies announced. It will be released for PC via Steam in 2025.

Here's a review of the game via the Steam page:

About

A Million Deep is a “deep-dive action strategy game” where Moma, a human girl from outer space, visits Earth and dives into a million-story deep underground world known as Naraka Akasha to find her only friend.

As Moma, players will have to design and craft their own original weapons and engage in strategic battles to survive in the hostile environment of Naraka Akasha to uncover the true identity of Moma's elusive friend.

For Moma, drifting alone in space, texting her friend on Earth was the only thing that kept her going. After all the beloved crewmates died from the virus, the only thing left to do was the daily aptitude test.

But as long as Moma could imagine the landscape of Earth as her friend described it, she managed to experience the boredom and loneliness of life on the ship.

“This will be my last message. Sorry. Thank you very much.”

Her friend never sent another message, but Moma knows where they are—a million-story deep abyss known as Naraka Akasha, the only place on earth fit for human survival.

Although she has no idea what they look like, Moma decides to dive into the underworld in search of her only friend…

Strategically Craft Your Weapons and Shields

A Million Deep features a crafting system where you can freely combine blocks to create your own original weapons and shields. Each creation has different offensive and defensive abilities depending on the form and materials used, and combining the same type of block can create parts with special effects. Editing your weapons and shields and working out the best creation for your playstyle through trial and error only gets more and more enjoyable as it gets harder.

Mind-blowing Time Freezing Battles

When Moma moves, so does the enemy, but when Moma stops, so does the enemy. In this time-freezing combat system, you'll engage in intense, extreme battles…one physical step at a time. Each enemy attack and the strength of each attack is clearly displayed on the screen, meaning you can take your time analyzing the situation and dealing with them one by one. The key to winning is to use your brain every step of the way to make the best decisions.

Deep Diving Exploration

The Naraka Akasha is very, very deep, and the floors can either be completely empty or full of dangerous creatures. Scanning upcoming areas is crucial for effective exploration, and with this you can choose between different floors. Will you encounter hostile creatures, trade in a shop, expand your crafting abilities, regenerate health, or gather much-needed resources? Go deeper and deeper into the abyss and aim for the floors of civilization that are closely related to the mysteries of the story.

What awaits below?

Depending on which floors you visit, as well as other criteria, you will reach one of many story endings. Plus, after multiple playthroughs, NPCs will act differently, and you can even influence Momars from different worlds…

A word from Cyberspace Biotope representative Pop

A Million Deep is a game where Moma, a girl floating alone in space, explores the underworld more than a million levels deep to reach her only friend, “you”.

The weapon crafting system, where you can freely design your own weapons, and the unique combat system, where enemies only move when you move, are closely linked. I'm trying to create a system that encourages “craft for combat” as much as possible.

I'm also working hard on a sci-fi story about parallel worlds and the meaty details of a mysterious underworld, so please look forward to it!
