The latest Canary branch of Windows 11 now lets you pin menus from Windows search results right to the taskbar, and that seems really handy.
Pinning apps to the Windows 11 taskbar becomes much easier with the new Canary branch
This new feature was discovered by the ever-vigilant PhantomOfEarth on X. If you've never heard of them, they're very good at scouring Canary builds for new features hidden within. This time, they've tracked down a new feature that lets you pin apps from the Windows Search section of the Start menu to the taskbar.
The operation seems to be really intuitive: just search for the app you want to pin, click and hold the search result and then drag it to the taskbar. Voilà – now you can easily launch your app.
It's good to see Microsoft making Windows 11's Start menu more useful, especially considering it wasn't great when the operating system first launched. Regardless, if you're still not a huge fan of the Start menu, you can use Start11 or StartAllBack for a more customized experience. Or you can follow the path of one of our editors here at XDA and force yourself not to use the Start menu for a week and see how it changes your computer usage habits.
