HP's new OmniBook Ultra Flip comes with Intel Lunar Lake and everything you love about the Spectre x360

The time has finally come. Intel has just announced its brand new Lunar Lake processor line, officially called Intel Core Ultra (Series 2), and that makes HP one of the first companies to announce a device with the new chips. The new HP OmniBook Flip 14 is the latest version of the Spectre x360, now under HP's refreshed branding that launched in May.

The HP OmniBook Flip 14 features the latest Intel processors, looks very similar to its predecessor, and has the same extras, including an OLED display and a 9MP webcam.

Of course, the new processors are the highlight here too and they are a bit different from the previous model. The Spectre x360 14 came with an Intel Core Ultra 7 processor, but now you can upgrade up to an Intel Core Ultra 9 288V. The number of cores is lower, however. While the previous models had up to 16 cores and 22 threads with six P cores, eight E cores and two LPE cores, the new processors are limited to just eight cores with four P cores and four E cores. However, these are entirely next-gen designs that promise to still be much faster than the previous models.

In addition, these new chips feature even more powerful integrated Intel Arc graphics with the new Xe2 architecture, as well as a proper NPU that can actually compete with the Qualcomm Snapdragon X-series platforms.

The design is very familiar

In terms of design, nothing has really changed on this model, but that's because the last Spectre x360 14 came out less than a year ago and had a brand new design. There's no reason to change it yet. That design includes a 14-inch 16:10 OLED display with 2.8K resolution and a variable refresh rate between 48Hz and 120Hz. You also get a 9MP webcam with Windows Hello facial recognition, which is still one of the best webcams on any laptop. For sound, there are four speakers with DTS:X Ultra, while connectivity is provided via a Wi-Fi 7 modem.

There is one change in the ports, however. In addition to two Thunderbolt 4 ports, the notebook now has a third USB-C port (instead of USB Type-A) and this is located on the corner of the notebook. Another design change is that this notebook will only be available in Atmosphere Blue or Eclipse Gray, which are slightly different from previous models, and the silver option is also gone.

The HP OmniBook Flip 14 can be pre-ordered starting today, with shipping beginning September 24th.
