Key findings

  • Super God Mode is an enhanced version of Windows God Mode that creates shortcuts to system settings and commands.
  • Installation is simple: download files, run the BAT file and let the app scan your computer for various commands.
  • After scanning, organize and use different folders with your new shortcuts for easy and quick access to Windows functions.

Have you heard of Super God Mode? Me neither, until I found out there was an update that made it much better. I wanted to try it out before publishing an article about it, and what I saw was really cool. Because of this, I wanted to create a guide on what this app does and how to put it to good use.

What is Super God Mode?

There's a good chance you're already familiar with Windows' God Mode. If not, God Mode unlocks some advanced features that more advanced users can use. One of these features allows you to extract links within Windows and turn them into a shortcut. Super God Mode takes that particular feature and extends it even further – hence the “Super God Mode.”

If you are still a little unsure what Super God Mode actually is doeshere is an example. Let's say your Windows Update has serious problems and you need to keep running the Windows Update troubleshooter to fix the problem. To do this, open Control Panel, display all items, click Troubleshoot, and then click “Fix problems with Windows Update”. This will launch the troubleshooter, but it's quite cumbersome to do this every time.

Here's the cool thing: The text “Fix problems with Windows Update” is a shortcut that opens the troubleshooter. You know shortcuts, you use them all the time when you double-click an icon on your desktop to launch an app. And – just like your desktop shortcuts – the troubleshooter shortcut acts as a command that tells Windows to call a specific service on your computer. So why not use an app that searches Windows, finds the shortcut command that opens the Windows Update troubleshooter, and then creates a shortcut that you can place on the desktop or in a file and double-click at any time to run it? That's exactly what Super God Mode does.

How to install Super God Mode

Luckily, setting up Super God Mode is pretty easy. First, head to the project's GitHub page and scroll down to the “How to run it” section. Under “Option 1 (easier): Use .Bat Launcher,” download the two linked files to the same location. Then run the .BAT file. A CMD window should automatically appear, which will then open a much more user-friendly GUI window. Be sure to keep the CMD window around—we'll be using it again very soon.

How to use Super God Mode

Now that Super God Mode is up and running, here's what to do next.

How to start a scan with Super God Mode

When you launch Super God Mode, you'll see a ton of settings that may seem daunting at first. Don't worry; the developer was kind enough to set everything up for you in advance. If you're not sure what you're doing with this screen, just click the “Run Script” button and let the app do its thing.

If you want to know what's going on, you can hover over each setting to see what it does. By default, Super God Mode scans your computer for all kinds of system links and bundles them into one folder. You can toggle what gets scanned and uncheck the links you don't want scanned using the Control Outputs panel on the right. The scan itself doesn't take too long, so you don't have to feel like you have to reduce links just to save time.

On the left side, you'll find some handy options. If you're looking for a link that Windows hasn't put there, be sure to check “Include URL logs from third-party apps” so Super God Mode can fetch them. The bottom option also lets you run a more thorough scan of your system, although it will take longer. Otherwise, the options are personal preference.

What to do after Super God Mode completes its scan?

Once you click on “Run Script”, the CMD window will start listing all the items that Super God Mode is scanning. Once it's finished, a folder titled “Super God Mode” should be created in the directory where you ran the script. Open it.

You will now see a number of different folders to choose from. Here is a quick overview of some of the more useful ones:

  • Deep Links: This tool contains some handy links for opening troubleshooting tools and accessing parts of Windows Defender. It also contains the shortcuts for Control Panel, Text-to-Speech, and Default Programs, which can be useful if you use these apps frequently.
  • System settings: If you want a quick link to a system page, you can find it here. Even better, you can find links to system settings in the system settings here too. Want to access the Narrator window without having to go through the Ease of Access window every time? Grab the easeofaccess-narrator shortcut and you're good to go.
  • Specially named folders: This contains links to folders that may be of great importance to you. You can access the Downloads folder, the My Music folder or even the Fonts folder using the shortcuts contained in this folder. Top tip: If you are tired of opening the Run command every time you want to access the AppData folder, use the shortcut from here instead. It is much easier.

What to do with the new keyboard shortcuts?

Now you have the shortcuts for your most used settings. But why stop there? Remember: These are shortcuts to apps and services on your PC, just like the ones on your desktop. That means you can copy, move, and organize them just like your regular shortcuts.

The easiest way to use these shortcuts is to put them on your desktop and be done with it. But why stop there? Why not create folders on your desktop for specific shortcuts? For example, one for troubleshooting, one for Ease of Access shortcuts, and so on. It would be much easier to go through these than to launch Settings for the hundredth time. For the system shortcuts, you could burn them to a USB stick and create a Swiss Army knife of shortcuts that you can access just by plugging it into a PC. The choice is yours.
