Dread Rune is a roguelike RPG that throws you into a dungeon full of dangers.

  • Dread Rune is a top-down roguelike dungeon crawler, now available for iOS and Android
  • It caught our attention with a number of features, including fifteen playable classes, distinct dungeon regions, and more.
  • The latest update adds a host of new items, enemies, and more

Many of the games that pop up on our radar only do so after receiving a significant update. That's because there are so many games coming out these days that keeping them updated can be a real pain. Luckily, we spotted today's topic thanks to a recent update; so what caught our eye about Dread Rune?

Well, first of all this Diablo-style isometric dungeon crawler seems to be very solid in terms of features. In terms of gameplay it is exactly what you would expect from a roguelike dungeon crawler as you make your way through a deep labyrinth filled with enemies, traps and obstacles, trying to get as deep as possible before inevitably falling victim.

But it’s the feature set that really makes Dread Rune stand out. Whether it’s the 15 playable classes (including favorites like Ranger and Mage), the destructible environments, the five distinct dungeon regions, the huge number of items, or the random events, this is a game with some standout features.

I am

A true D&D style

In particular, I noticed the real-time controls that you can see in the trailer paired with all the different systems in play. Often when it comes to RPGs you get either real-time titles with very light rules or more granular but slower games. Yet it looks like Dread Rune is trying to merge the two in a pretty intriguing way. So I'm excited to see how this game turns out!

The latest update includes new enemies like the Coin Bandit, additional items like the Horn of Valhalla, and more. So check out Dread Rune now on the iOS App Store and Google Play.
