Gameloft has announced a reboot of the puzzle adventure game in partnership with HarperCollins Productions and Netflix Games. Carmen Sandiego For PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, PC (Steam), iOS and Android. It will first launch for iOS and Android through Netflix in Q1 2025, followed by other platforms including iOS and Android for non-Netflix subscribers in the same quarter.
Carmen Sandiego It will feature a story-driven campaign in which Carmen must use espionage and high-tech gadgets to defeat the evil VILE.
“In this game, you're no longer chasing Carmen — you are Carmen,” Gameloft told IGN. “Transitioning from being a stalker to being Carmen herself offers a new perspective on the game that allows players to fully engage in her world of espionage and globe-trotting adventure. Another character you see at the beginning of the trailer is 'The Player' from the Netflix Series, a reference to the never-before-seen live-action figure from the 1994 animated series. Where on Earth is Carmen Sandiego? The player now serves as Carmen's assistant. This means you experience the game entirely from Carmen's point of view, with the Player helping you complete quests, solve puzzles and outwit rogue operatives.”
Gameloft continued: “It features all the exploration fun of the original core gameplay (collecting clues and following VILE operatives around the world) combined with immersive on-the-ground exploration of cities. We've also included a classic mode called 'The Acme Files', which is a heartfelt homage to it Carmen Sandiego Games of the 80s. Nostalgic gamers as well as fans of the Netflix series will also find hidden Easter eggs throughout the game's locations – little surprises we're excited for the community to discover!”
