Last week, Microsoft announced that it was getting rid of the Paint 3D app and another Windows feature. It wasn't just about cutting things, though, as the software giant also announced some notable changes to Microsoft 365 apps and services in the coming months. As always, these announcements haven't escaped our notice.

It's that time again: we're giving you a detailed report on the new Microsoft 365 features Microsoft has announced over the last seven days. In this week's Microsoft Roadmap Weekly, we have some new features for a wide range of Microsoft 365 apps and services, including Teams, Outlook, Forms, and Copilot.

4 Microsoft Teams: Intelligent aggregation for authorities and a more efficient way to manage teams

Summary of the GCC-H Teams Meeting

Meeting summarization in Teams is a very popular feature for many good reasons. It provides a meeting transcript, easy access to shared files, key discussion points, and more after the meeting is over. All of these benefits will now be available for Teams for government agencies next month as Microsoft has announced intelligent summarization for GCC-H environments for Teams web, Mac, and Windows clients (Feature ID: 410985).

Efficient management of team membership

Microsoft will release more Teams features next month beyond Intelligent Aggregation for GCC-H. One of these upcoming changes will make it easier to manage Teams within an organization. The Deploy Teams tool in the Teams admin center automatically deploys Teams based on employee roles and locations, ensuring the right people are in the right place for effective collaboration (Feature ID: 410774).

3 Microsoft Forms: Synchronization of form data with Excel becomes more reliable

Microsoft Forms

An advanced synchronization solution

Microsoft introduced form data syncing with Excel in Microsoft Forms earlier this year. The software giant called it one of its “highly anticipated” features. While the ability to sync form data with Excel is a game-changer for many, many people questioned the reliability of this functionality.

Microsoft has acknowledged these reliability concerns and will soon introduce a new data sync solution that will be responsible for consistently syncing form data with Excel (Feature ID: 410988). It will replace the older version of Live Data Sync by the end of this month.

Microsoft Outlook for mobile will also receive a major improvement by the end of this month. Outlook for Android and iOS will soon allow you to hide or show subfolders by expanding or collapsing main folders in the Move menu. In addition, when you search in the Move menu, you will see both subfolders and their parent folders, making it easier to see where a folder is located (Feature ID: 409957).

Improve PowerPoint presentations

Microsoft's AI tool Copilot is already available in Microsoft 365 apps, including PowerPoint. The AI tool helps you get things done faster, from helping you design a new presentation to creating presentations using an existing Word document or PDF. Additionally, Microsoft will announce more Copilot extensions by the end of this month that will help you “drive” the narrative of your PowerPoint slides (Feature ID: 398967). However, the company has not specified which extensions it plans to roll out. If you're an individual, you'll need to purchase a Copilot Pro subscription, which costs $20 per month, to use the AI tool in all available Microsoft 365 apps.

Release schedules are subject to change

Microsoft often deviates from the release schedules mentioned on its roadmap pages without properly explaining the cause of the delay. This has happened several times in the past and could happen again, so don't be surprised if some of the features mentioned above aren't available as originally expected.
